Miele Direct Power System
The 800 Watt bypass motor system creates exceptional airflow and lets you clean without fear of damaging the motor. Less expensive systems pass dirty air over the motor; allowing paper clips, coins or anything else you pick up to damage it. The S170's internal ribs help prevent airflow loss and increase the longevity of the bags by circulating air around the entire bag, not just the rear.

Quality
Made from the same material used in football helmets, its lightweight ABS casing is very strong and exceptionally durable. Other materials could be used, but at Miele, quality comes first.

Clean Air
While most of the Powerhouse is designed to care for your flooring, the five stage filtration system helps care for something else; the air you breathe.
The completely sealed system is designed to help improve suction and filtration. By having tight joints and rubber seals, Miele vacuum cleaners keep the dirt and dust where it should be - in the machine.
Recent studies have shown that some vacuum cleaners generate as many lung damaging particles in your living room as there are in downtown Los Angeles on a bad day! Who wants or needs that? Lung damaging particles are extremely small airborne particles that can infiltrate your lung and cause damage. As more is learned about the dangers of lung damaging particles, the more important a vacuum cleaners ability to filter its exhaust becomes. Smooth floor switch
A moving brush roll can scatter debris on smooth floors and damage carpets if the machine is stationary. With the S170's Powerhouse, correctly moving between carpeting and smooth floors has never been easier.

Auto adjusting floor nozzle
The S170's automatically adjust to clean any carpet type and the state of art polymer brush roll provides full width, edge to edge cleaning. Unique side vents help clean along baseboards, furniture and moldings.

On board accessories
The hard body casing incorporates a lengthy 5:1 stretch hose, extended crevice nozzle and dusting brush right into the design. No separate kits or machines are needed.

For S175 Powerhouse Plus model
The 1,000 Watt variable speedbypass motor system and integrated into the housing of the unit is a special reel that hold all 22 feet of cord when not in use. Pull out what you need - not all or nothing like tradition uprights. A simple touch on the foot pedal quickly retrieves the cord.
With unique front edge cleaning, cleaning baseboards and moldings has never been easier. A special tab releases full cleaning power to the leading edge of the machine when in contact with any vertical surface.
